Didnt think it was possible but I get better mileage out of my 5.0 than my 3.0. I even hand calculated it out just to be safe but its correct Also should note this is with some dicking around and burning tire. I am closer to 25 now going back and forth to school
Got ready to go to the post office today in the expo and I got the dreaded click, click, click and no start  Battery had 11.7v, just enough to unlock the doors & power the led's in the domes & stuff, but not enough to crank. I was close to getting an optima yellow top, but the $240+ price tag & only 3 year warranty steered me back to wally world. The old Ford battery has a 2009 sticker on it, also only had 675 ca's where the MAXX has a 9yr warranty & 850 ca's. For some reason, the past few years the MAXX battery ca's have been going down... I had a 1000ca maxx battery not too long ago & my last one in the ranger is only 900 or 850  I've been considering adding a solenoid & a separate battery for accessories... like I planned to do with the ranger... Did a little looking around online at kinetic & xs power batteries, but I'm not sure how big I need to go with the 2nd battery (let alone where I'm gonna stuff it). I want to use the 200a battery isolator I got for the truck, but I'm leaning towards a 250a alternator & I'm worried that 250a from a new alt will fry the isolator, so I may try a solenoid relay isolator to see how it goes.
hey guys, im pretty close to being set on getting a set of '01 explorer wheels for my winter set. i did some searching and they should work backspacing, hub, and lug pattern right? i need someone to reassure me lol
yes and no. tried them on pooleo's ranger before and his was lifted and 4wd andthey rubbed badly cuz the back spacing was so bad. now it depends what wheel u are talking about and size tire on said wheel. do u have a pic? i can tell u if it will work or not.
damn, well im hopefully getting a pic of them later tonight, ill post them up, thanks man. this body style is the older one, i was thinking the issue was only with the 02+ ones but im not sure. thanks
it just depends on the wheel. like with his the back spacing was so ****ty he lost 2/4ths of his steering cuz the rubbing on parts
I'm leaning towards the 200a for the expo with the 200a isolator now... My new starting battery is a MAXX, but for the 2nd battery I'd like something like a deep cycle marine or even a kinetic or xs power agm battery. I charged the old expo battery last night & so far it's holding 12.4v so if it holds up for a while I might use it for the 2nd battery until I find exactly what I want. The biggest issue now is where to stick the 2nd battery. There might be enough room under the hood for a small lawn mower sized battery if I move a few things around, but there's no way I'll cram in a full size battery there  Wonder if I could make a battery tray/box to mount under the rear cargo area somewhere unsure: In the Expo, the 2nd battery is just for the amps & if I hook up any extra lights down the road.
damn. ok well my buddys busy with hunting now and i havent bugged him about the wheel pics, but ill probly ask about them again in a couple weeks after hunting. ill pm you then if thats cool?
was finally warm enough to clean the chunks of mud off my truck lol. about 2 weeks ago it snowed a bit, and melted the same day. was going down some backroads when they turned to straight mud. well, me being me, i just had to have fun in it. got SUPER muddy. as in, not even a half inch of space between the tire and the mud buildup in the wheel wells. fast forward 2 weeks its warm again and i could finally get it off if i parked in the sun. did one side at a time lol. before parked in sun: after 5 minutes in sun: just fell right off lol.
figured out my evap problem, fuel filler neck is bad and leaks a bit when i fill up. with all the rust creating b.s. and making it hard to take the bed off we might just cut an access hole through the bed lol
lol very true, i might have to get one i didnt even think of that. i think itl be nice having a access hole too if i ever need to do any more work there
