I have a 2006 Ford Ranger Sport, 3.0L V6 engine. Within the last month the injectors have started making a loud ticking noise when idling. A mechanic said it was not a big issue and no repairs were needed. Has anyone else had this issue and if so what have you done besides living with the ticking? Any thoughts or suggestions are welcomed.

My '93 had was I thought was loud injector ticking. Turned out whoever replaced the spark plugs before I got it didn't tighten them all the way. If you can do a DIY replacement, they aren't that hard to replace. The injectors are just the big issue as far as cost. Mine for my '93 4.0l were around $30 for one injector, luckily for me I only had to replace one. If you want your mechanic to replace them, tell him to replace them. Not sure why he'd refuse to, he's making money off of it.
Surprise, surprise, I used an off the shelf injector cleaner, STP, and the ticking noise went away. Miracles do happen. Thanks to all for sharing with me.
